Tolman was given an episode of guest-starring as romance novelist Abby Berman on The Mindy Program the same year. In 2015, her supporting character was on Michael Dougherty's film horror comedy Krampus. Tolman declined several support roles, such as the ones played by mothers, wifes and girlfriends, after her debut in Fargo. Tolman wanted a distinct character. Tolman played the role of a woman in ABC's Downward Dog in 2017, Based on the Animal Media Group's web series. It was cancelled after one season. Tolman was the main character on ABC's drama series Emergence which premiered on September 24, 2019. It was pulled on May 21, 2020 after just one episode despite "pretty strong" ratings, according to Tolman. She guest starred on NBC's Good Girls.
